EL SEGUNDO, Calif. March 2003 - Two ground-breaking proprietary products from International Rectifier, IR® (NYSE: IRF), have been selected in two categories as finalists in the EDN Magazine Innovation of the Year Awards competition. The influential electronics trade publication selected International Rectifier's DirectFET® power MOSFETs in the Power ICs category, and the iNTERO™ Intelligent Power Module in the Power Sources category for 2002 from a field of hundreds of candidates. EDN's exclusive awards program honors new products considered truly outstanding in the electronics industry.

IR's top-side-cooled, surface mount DirectFET power MOSFET is the first of its kind, built specifically for power management applications from the ground up. Within the footprint of an SO-8, DirectFET power MOSFETs effectively double the current handling capacity for high frequency DC-DC converters in today's advanced microprocessor systems.

IR's second finalist, the iNTERO intelligent power module, enables a highly flexible and integrated power management platform for three-phase industrial motor and servo drives. The module integrates the power stage with an embedded driver board, enabling functions such as programmable drive control, current sensing, isolation, gate driver and power stage protection.
